A client asked me if I could combine some photos of her children and some pictures of the cattle they used to raise years ago. The children are now grown and have kids of their own, but we were able to recreate the memories of her children and their wonderful life on the farm.
On a recent painting trip to Ireland, we rented a house in County Monaghan. This Springer spaniel belonged to the owners of the house. He visited us quite frequently and was full of nervous energy. I did a quick portrait of Bruno to thank our hosts for their wonderful hospitality.
Katie, my first golden retriever. A beautiful dog with a matching temperament, a gentle soul.
This pastel is of my cat Moguley, his mother Bailey was the first animal I got when I moved to the farm. The house was empty except for mice and didn’t feel like a home without a furry companion. People were hesitant to accept his humble heritage, his mom from the pound and his dad a nameless Tom, they were all convinced he was a Maine Coone.
This portrait of this stunning mare was commissioned by an old high school friend for another high school friend’s daughter. I was moved by such an incredibly thoughtful act of kindness.
A friend of mine sent me some images of her trip to Newfoundland, including this beautiful mare, tethered in a small field on the edge of a fishing village. I was drawn to her far off gaze.
This lovely chestnut gelding has an expressive eye.
A young girl crouches by the barn door, her horse’s muzzle, soft as velvet searches for the anticipated treat. Her gentle touch and whispered thoughts are all the reward he needs.
A lone border collie eyed me warily as I approached, never going past the stone gates that marked the end of the lane to his farm. I came across him on an excursion during a recent painting trip to Dingle, Ireland.
